Sports Director Jake Eichstaedt got a sneak peek at the Seahawks 2024-25 roster

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – Over the past four seasons, UNCW head men’s basketball coach has helped take the program to new heights, but still have fallen short of an NCAA Tournament berth, reaching the CAA championship game twice. In 2024, he hopes the new height propels them to another level.

The new Seahawks team has five returners and five transfer portal additions, along with a junior college transfer and one freshman.

“My staff deserves all the credit for tirelessly working to put together what we think is a competitive group of high-character guys,” said Siddle.

UNCW also released their non-conference home opponents for this upcoming season. The Seahawks host Georgia Southern, Marshall, Florida Gulf Coast and UNC Asheville. Rounding out the home schedule are games with Mount Olive and Spartanburg Methodist.

NEW SCHOLARSHIP ADDITIONS:

#0 – Bo Montgomery, Graduate Senior from Holy Cross

Montgomery joins the Seahawks following four seasons at Holy Cross where he averaged 9.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game over the course of 105 games. He started 19-of-26 games his senior season for the Crusaders, including the final 11 games of the season. Montgomery poured in 15 points in an early-season upset of Georgetown and later scored a season-high 23 points against Bucknell and rounded out a double-double that game with 12 rebounds.

“Bo brings a high skill level and playmaking to our team as he can play multiple perimeter positions. He has a knack for making everyone better around him.”

#2 – Elijah Jamison, Junior from UW-Milwaukee

A Horizon League All-Freshman Team after the 2022-23 campaign, Jamison attended Milwaukee after being one ofthemost prolific prep scorersin North Carolina High School history.Jamison graduated as the state of NorthCarolina’sfifth all-time prep scorer with over 2,600 points between Liberty Heights Athletic Institute and Louisburg High School.

“Elijah is someoneI’veknown for a very long time and someoneI’vealways respected. In his two years at Milwaukee, he played a key role in helping them win 42 games while making 47 starts,”said Siddle.“Elijah is one of the most tenacious competitorsI’vecome acrossin my career. He couples that with a skill set thatwas much neededfor our roster. With his ability to move on and off the ball, he will play a vital role in ourteam’ssuccess.”

#3 – Sean Moore, Graduate Student from Farleigh Dickinson

Moore comes to UNCW as a third-team All-Northeast Conference selection during his senior season at Farleigh Dickinson. He started 31 games for the Knights, scored in double figures 20 times and grabbed 10 or more rebounds on eight different occasions. As a junior, Moore totaled 19 points in a first-round upset of number-one seed Purdue.

“Sean possesses versatility, and toughness and is another guy who can play multiple perimeter positions. He is a flat-out winner as he has done it on the grassroots and collegiate levels. His energy, competitiveness and skill level will really help our team next season.”

#7 Greedy Williams, Junior from Chipola College

Williams was a 2023-24 NJCAA All-American last season for Chipola College in Marianna, Fla. The 6-5 point guard averaged 11.8 points and shot 42.9 percent from the field while leading Chipola to its 28th Panhandle Conference Championship, 18thNJCAA Region VIII/FCSAA State Championship, and 19thNJCAA Tournament appearance.

The Montgomery, Ala., product dished out 5.2 assists per game and reached double figures 20 times, including a pair of double-doubles in his last six games.

“Greedy was one of the best junior college guards in the country at one of the best junior colleges in the country,”said Siddle.“He played for a tremendous coach in Donnie Tyndall and hasa greatbasketball pedigree as his dad starred for the University of Alabama in the late90’s.

“He brings great size for the position, a high IQ, high-level play-making skillsandheis a proven winner at every level. We are beyond excited to have himas a part ofour family.”

#13 Makoi Mabor Marier, Freshman from Gaston Christian

Marier, the No. 11 rated prep player in North Carolina per On3.com, helped Gaston Christian to the NCISAA 3A State Championship Game and was a 2024 NCISAA 3A All-State selection.

Originally from South Sudan, Marier participated in theNBA’sBasketball Without Borders program in 2022 in Cairo, Egypt.

“Makoi is a flat-out steal for our program. Along with tons of mid-major offers, we had to compete with numerous Power Five programs to lure him to UNCW,”said Siddle.“At 6-11, Makoi is a very versatile player who we can play at multiple positions. Having a young phenom in our programis only going toadd another level of competitivenessandwecouldn’tbe more excited about this young man.”

#32 Josh Corbin, Graduate Student from Robert Morris

Corbin, meanwhile, is a graduate transfer who played last season at Robert Morris. In 2023-24, he averaged 13.4 points per game and shot 36.3% from behind the 3-point line, making 87 three-pointers. He led the squad with 92 assists. In two seasons with RMU, he started 61-of-62 games played and averaged 11.8 points.

“Joshua is very similar toKJ Jenkins. He is one of the elite shooters in mid major basketball. In a lot of ways, he was a must have type of player for our program.”

#55 Harlan Obioha, Junior from Niagara

Obioha, who will have two seasons of eligibility, transfers to the Seahawks following two seasons at Niagara. During his sophom*ore season with the Purple Eagles, Obioha started 31 games and averaged 10.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. He recorded six double-doubles with season-highs of 22 points against Rider and 16 rebounds against Manhattan.

“Harlan is one of the most physically imposing young men that we’ve recruited in my tenure. He can score in a variety of ways, and he rebounds the ball at a high level.”
